Dear Club Member,
They say that perseverance pays off – well last Saturday was certainly a case of persevering! At 2pm there was wind gusts of a whole 3 knots being registered on the Dublin Bay Buoy (which could very well be its own rocking from side to side!). 15 minutes later things had started to change – so we donned our gear and headed to the boats. By 2.30pm there was a lovely south-westerly breeze and we all headed to Poolbeg. Pictures here for those who don’t believe me: here.
Sailing this Saturday
Are you sailing this Saturday? We’re trailing a few smart options for members to indicate if they are thinking about coming sailing at the weekends. Currently though we using the old reliables of email (club@insc.ie) or telephone on 01 2844195.
Workshop Update: 1720 Launch and Foil Change
The workshop has been hard at work today – with the second 1720 now back into the water. In addition, Oi! (The one we’ve been sailing on so far) has had her foil reattached so the furling head sail can once again be used. This will help us on a windier day as we’ll now be able to reduce sail area. Finally, there’s loads of activity on the two smaller RIBs so that they’ll be ready for the INSC Safety Boat Course taking place on Saturday the 6th and Saturday the 13th of February.
Safety Boat Course: Saturday 6th and Sunday 13th February
There’s two places left on the INSC Safety Boat Course taking place on the 6th and 13th of February. We already have 4 club members signed up to do the training. Club members can benefit from a reduced fee of €199, as opposed to €269.
Club History
During a recent spring clean in the clubhouse a treasure trove of old photos and memorabilia was uncovered, much of it relating to the club in the years gone by. We’re currently digitalising these, and will be sharing some of the memories with you over the next few weeks – not least of the INSC’s first national regatta – held for Topper Dinghies – and running from Salthill and Monknstown Beach in 1994!!
