Club Newsletter | 7th July

(07 Jul 2015)

Dear Club Member,

A warm welcome to the second INSC member written newsletter. We seem to be having a bit of a break from the sunny weather of late. But my garden is certainly enjoying the showers of the last few days. But the long term forecast for Thursday's sailing shows some promise of sunny weather. But whatever the weather brings, I always find a way to sail and enjoy the experience, the challenges and the learning opportunities, that the differing conditions bring to my sailing. This I have found is one of the most important ways to gain big improvements and confidence in our sailing.

Dun Laoghaire Regatta

The coming weekend sees the bi-annual Dun Laoghaire, which is the largest sailing event in Ireland. Over 400 boats will be competing in different racing classes, many arriving from abroad. The regatta running from Thursday to Sunday inclusive, so this is well worth a look and a great family event. The Irish National Sailing Club will be represented by the INSS Reflex 38, Lynx. The Club Facebook page will be keeping you up to date with the progress of the INSC flagged boat.

Saturday's club sailing session

Due to the regatta and the associated shortage of available instructors to assist Glyn in running Saturday's club sailing session. Glyn has asked that club members who wish to sail on Saturday inform the INSS office by close of business tomorrow if they wish to sail. Please confirm your attendance by return email to club@insc.ie, or by calling 01 2844195.

Club T Shirts and Fleeces

Joan has asked me to let club members know that these items are now available to order. They will have the club logo on the sleeve and INSC.ie on the back. The cost will be approximately 30 euros for T Shirts and 50 euros for fleeces. Orders to club@insc.ie.

Dalkey Island BBQ

Our annual BBQ on Dalkey island will be taking place on the 26th of July this year. We will be taking a selection of club boats down to anchor off Dalkey Island and then enjoying our usual bbq treats. Please book as early as possible with the office to ensure your place as this is usually a very popular event. The cost for this day trip including BBQ is €69.

RYA Start Racing Certificate - Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th July

This course is ideal for those who have little or no racing experience, as well as those who have participated in a number of races and events. The course will include information about starting procedure and techniques, tactics, scoring systems and more.

Hope to see you on the water this week.
