Designed for those who wish to continue sailing in a relaxed and safe environment and develop their skills. Once you have graduated with minimum RYA Level 2, why not join with your course classmates or friendly members to experience a day on the bay in the confidence that our coaches are always close by to offer assistance and provide advice. Don’t worry if you are on you own, as there is always other club members looking for a Club sailing partner. Or if you want to introduce a friend feel free. Club sailing takes place every Saturday from the 14 January. Times are 1pm to 4pm.
We have and exciting new line-up for club activities during 2012, however firstly we would like to look back at the successful year of 2011.
Well done to everybody who competed in all the club outings and races. We had our prize giving this year in the Purty Kitchen on the 17th of December with some old prizes given a new lease of life and the introduction
of some new prizes. The prize list is as follows;
• 1st Dalkey Island Race (Dalkey Island Trophy) : Dave Martin & Crew
• 1st Autumn Series Squib (Salthill Squib Cup) : Mary Beck
• 1st Autumn Series Dinghies (Dublin Bay Dinghy Trophy) : Joan Sheffield
• Most improved sailor throughout the year : Alan Dempsy
This year was also a year of firsts with a lot of organised trips further afield than the regular confines of Dun Laoghaire Harbour. Some of the firsts include;
o Poolbeg Cruise and Lunch
o Howth Cruise and Lunch
o Dalkey Race
o Dalkey Picnic
This year we want to do some of these trips again and do trips further afield even as far as Greystones Co. Wicklow! We are also going to be offering more advanced courses such as regular spinnkaer courses, seamanship courses, racing courses… just keep an eye on the emails. All will be revealed as soon as possible
We will be restarting on the 14th of January this year with the time as before from 1-4pm. Sailing will be as before in 1720s, Squibs, Picos, Laser 2s and of course Toppers of which we are expecting a few new arrivals in the near future.
We have an all new cost structure for 2012 which is laid our below;
Regular pay as you sail club outing €35
Voucher system of 8 regular club outings €200
Club Membership options:
1. Spring Membership (Jan – April): €345 (€23 per session)
2. Summer Membership (May – September): €779 (€19 per session)
3. Autumn Membership (October – December): €253 (€23 per session)
