Corporate & Group Days Out!

Corporate & Group Outings at The Irish National Sailing Club

Set up in 1972, we have provided an excellent days outing for many groups of varying sizes – we can comfortably accommodate group sizes of two to two hundred! 2009 was a particularly busy year for us with clients such as Google, Vodafone, Lavelle Coleman Solicitors, McCann Fitzgerald, Microsoft, A.I.B. and Axa Insurance coming aboard amongst others.

2010 was busy too, and we would love nothing more than for your group to be our newest recruit for 2011!

The Day Out - What we provide

We provide everything - from safety gear to waterproof clothes to Food & Bar options afterwards. It's your day to relax; just leave it to us!

Teamwork

Co-operation and working together for the common goal are fundamental to making the boat sail. Over the years many companies and various groups have engaged us to promote and foster the ethic of teamwork for their company and we are very proud to have an excellent track record. In the idyllic setting of Dublin Bay (and most importantly away from the work environment!) your team will work together as a crew to make the boat sail! Put simply the boat cannot manoeuvre without the combined effort, concentration and dedication of its occupants. So for bonding, fostering the ethic of working as a team and fun all at once it is hard to better the sport of sailing!

The Boats...

The Irish National Sailing Club has a fleet of Sportsyachts, a 26 foot joy to sail! The stability of the boat coupled with its versatility, comfort, speed and safety give us an exhilarating vehicle for our Outings. Capable of speeds up to 20 knots and relatively easy to sail, Dalkey Island, Howth, Clontarf and Bray are well within our reach!

Outline Plan for the Outing...

(Our Outings are entirely bespoke, tailored to suit the wishes of the group. We can schedule the event for any three hour period during daylight hours, seven days per week. Below is an outline of what your outing can entail...)

6pm…

Arrive at the Clubhouse the group will relax and enjoy the surroundings. The event coordinator will give a briefing about our setup, the boats, the facilities, and introduce our instructional staff (skipper).

6.10pm...

Clients are assigned into groups of five and are handed over to their skipper. The skipper then will sort out clients with gear: waterproof jacket, chest high trousers and lifejacket.

6.15pm...

Clients make their way to the Sportsyachts!

 DSCF5316

6.20pm...

Skipper runs over the various parts of the boat to familiarise clients. Clients assist skipper in rigging the boat, plenty of teamwork necessary to get the sails up on the 25ft high mast!

6.30pm...

Departure! The skipper will helm (steer) the boat away from the mooring and head towards Dun Laoghaire's outer harbour. Clients will be controlling the main sail and jib (front sail) while the skipper talks them through why and how to do things / make changes to sails etc whilst afloat. Skipper will helm for 10 / 15 minutes, talking through how to turn, where to sit, how to move around the boat whilst afloat etc.

6.50pm...

By now everyone will have found their sea legs! The skipper has spent the last 30 minutes getting the clients acquainted with the boat. They are now familiar with turning, setting the sails and ropework. The skipper now hands the helm over to the clients. They are coached along by the skipper as they steer. Skipper sits beside the client while he / she helms! Major teamwork is required from the new sailors to make the boat move!

7pm...

Each boat is making its way to our destination for the evening – depending on weather and tide it could be Sandycove, Dalkey, Howth or Clontarf!

7.40pm...

Arrive at destination. If it's Dalkey Island we'll sail around the island, see the local seal population and pop our noses around into Killiney Bay where Jim Sheridan, Bono, Pat Kenny and Neil Jordan all have their homes nestled on the waterfront!

8.10pm...

Race time! All the fleet will assemble on the start line we've set as we prepare to race all the way back to Dun Laoghaire! This really gets the competitive edge going, clients know there'll be prizes for the winning boat! Things become that little bit more intense as the teamwork of each boat is tested! This is yacht racing, Dublin Bay style!

8.35pm...

Arrive at the finish line! Winner receives all the plaudits!!

8.45pm...

Arrive at moorings. De-rig boats.

 9pm...

Arrive back in Clubhouse, clients get changed.

 9.15pm...

Food is served to quench the hunger! A drink from the bar goes down nicely as the perfect accompaniment, all in the plush surroundings of Dun Laoghaire Harbour!

 9.45pm...

End of day!

“Hello Niall, please pass on my thanks to Donal and the crew for a fantastic day out. It was the first time on the water for most of the Team and they all walked away with a whole new perspective on Dublin Bay and what it has to offer. I have arranged many corporate days but none have been as successful, well organised or well received as yesterdays powerboat trip. We are already planning our next outing and I am delighted to say that it will be with the Irish National Sailing Club.”

“Daon’s Annual Summer Party was hosted by INSC.  From instigation until completion, Niall and the team at INSC organised a fantastic afternoon for us.  The attention to detail, excellent service and commitment to make our event great was clear from the beginning.  A group of 40 enjoyed an afternoon on both power and sail boats, it was a new experience for most individuals and thoroughly enjoyed by all.  INSC can cater for large groups and we could organise our staff into multiple teams adding relationship building to the day.  Afterwards we retired to the club house where the food and service were excellent.   The flexibility of INSC to cater to our specific needs made this an unforgettable event and we hope to be back!”

Hey Niall,

yesterday´s sailing  event was I great and I just want to give a short feedback. I was part of the Google group and sailed in a boat with Glyn. Glyn did a great job, was entertaining, explained everything very well, let everybody participate fully and was simply a fabulous sailing instructor. Thanks Glyn for this great time we had with you!

Hi Niall!

Thanks very much for everything on Friday.  By all accounts it was a superb event - everyone had a ball and some are now thinking of further sailing lessons!  The weather and wind helped obviously but as an organiser, I really appreciated how easy you made it for me to enjoy the event myself.  As soon as we got to the club, I could relax as I knew we were in safe hands.  The entire group had a fantastic time and the whole thing felt very organised and under control at all times.  It was also a great team building opportunity as people got into the racing spirit!  The food afterwards was great and the venue was perfect for unwinding with a pint overlooking the marina.  Here are some quotes from the guys:

"what a beautiful evening for it! "
"All in all it was very enjoyable"
"The beefburgers and chips were tasty after a few hours on the water!"
"it was amazing!"
"It was a great event"
"we all had great fun!"

An excellent, convenient, well organised day out in Dublin Bay which was different and immensely enjoyed both by clients and staff.”

“Our team building outing with The Irish National Sailing Club this summer was a great success. It was good value and great fun, active but not too active and was enjoyed by everyone. The whole team pulled together to sail the boats and learn a new skill.  The barbecue and a few drinks afterwards really finished it off nicely. We’re already looking forward to next year!”

Rory McGee, Commissioners of Irish Lights

“We really enjoyed our corporate outings with The Irish National Sailing Club this summer. Niall and his team organised a brilliant outing filled with adrenaline, team work and adventure! I highly recommend it! We will be back by end of September again!”
