It had been a few years since the INSC had a race series in the month of February, with difficulties in getting the weather to co-operate enough to race being a challenge. Nevertheless, we revived this tradition for 2017 and turnout certainly wasn’t disappointing!

Racing had been scheduled to run each of the Saturday’s in the month, however, due to stormy conditions we were only able to get racing on two of the days. We mustn’t feel hard done by however, with Dublin Bay Sailing Club only managing one race in the month and the DMYC the same!

The first day of racing took place on Saturday the 4th of February. Initially conditions were light, however a building breeze allowed the setting of a windward-leeward course. Two races were gotten in (just about) before the wind died away.

We had to wait until Saturday the 18th of February before we next got out, losing the 11th to extremely strong conditions. Three quick races were squeezed into the schedule. Unfortunately, we lost the last scheduled day of racing on the 25th due to strong winds again.

Final results are detailed below. Congratulations to Joan who finished first overall, to Neils in second and Jeremy in third position.
