Level 3 – Yacht & Dinghy

 

Pre-Requisites:

 

It is expected that all participants on this course can sail to the standard of Level 2 and have spent time consolidating Levels 1 & 2 in advance of undertaking this course. Our Adult Club provides the sailor with excellent preparation for Level 3. See our “Adult Club” section for more information.

 

Syllabus

Level 3 really is the next step up in terms of developing your sailing ability:

• Reefing Afloat – making sail area smaller whilst sailing.
• Learning how to pick up a mooring downwind.
• Learning how to come alongside a moored boat / pontoon downwind.
• Recovering a person fallen overboard in a variety of weather and tidal conditions.
• Anchoring.
• Sailing Backwards.
• Rudderless Sailing.
• Advanced Ropework.
