Saturday Morning Coaching Clinics

A series of improver clinics, with specific session aims and outcomes designed to be intensive and targeting coaching opportunities for members. Each will run for 3 hours on a Saturday morning from 10am-1pm.

1720 Helm & Crew Improver Clinic

  • Aim: More confidence on the boat, and being comfortable on the helm
  • Who’s it for: Newer sailors, or those who’ve been away for a bit. Ideally, we’ll have you ready to take part in the Seamanship Course on the 28th and 29th March.
  • Dates: Saturday 15th February, Saturday 29th February, Saturday 21st March

Re-Launch Your Dinghy Clinic

  • Aim: Prepare yourself for sailing this season after an absence from the water
  • Who’s it for: For lapsed dinghy sailors, either over winter or longer. The sessions will be used as a gentle re-introduction to the water and assume someone was previously at a level 2 standard. Plenty of hands on tuition will be offered, with instructors aboard with you in RS Quests as well as alongside you in safety boats.
  • Dates: Saturday 29th February, Saturday 14th March, Saturday 28th March

1720 Rigging & Reefing Clinic

  • Aim: Be totally comfortable rigging and reefing a 1720
  • Who’s it for: New club members are encourage to attend this clinic, where you’ll not only be taught how to rig and reef on the mooring, we’ll also practise this skill afloat while under sail!
  • Dates: Saturday 9th May, Saturday 23rd May

1720 Match Racing Clinic

  • Aim: Better Sailing, understanding effect of sail settings and controls
  • Who’s it for: Those who are comfortable afloat, but may not be totally sure what they should do with sail controls, helming or how to make the boat sail most effectively.
  • Dates: Saturday 6th June, Saturday 27th June, Saturday 18th July, Saturday 8th August, Saturday 29th August.

Dinghy Improver Summer Clinic

  • Aim: Better Sailing, understanding effect of sail settings and controls in Lasers and RS Quests
  • Who’s it for: Those who are comfortable afloat, but may not be totally sure what they should do with sail controls, helming or how to make the boat sail most effectively. Recent Club members are especially welcome to join in, with an introductory and intermediate level on offer.
  • Dates: Saturday 13th June, Saturday 4th July, Saturday 25th July, Saturday 15th August

Squib and Gizmo Seamanship Clinic

  • Aim: Getting members comfortable undertaking manouvers in both the squibs and Gizmo.
  • Who’s it for: A more relaxed series of exercises is designed for the more confident sailor who may practise techniques such as mooring, coming alongside and man over board less often. We’ll also practise with Gizmo under motor.
  • Dates: Saturday 20th June, Saturday 11th July, Saturday 1st August and Saturday 22nd August

Winter Preparation Clinic – 1720 and Squib

  • Aim: To sharpen all members skills prior to the more challenging winter conditions and November Racing Series
  • Who’s it for: All members at all levels can benefit from this broad coaching exercise, focusing on member led skills, what you want to cover!
  • Dates: Saturday 3rd October, Saturday 24th October
