Sailing Courses - What our Clients made of us...
Three years ago, I showed up at the Irish National Sailing Club for a level one course. I could swim and that was about it. I had no boat, no experience, no wet gear, no life jacket, no clue...
All of the above and more were provided by the Irish National Sailing Club during the adult sailing courses.
I can now sail three different types of boat, can helm all three, operate any sail, capsize safely (and with dignity most of the time!), race all three types of boat, anchor, read weather patterns, tidal movements and currents and have passed the level one and two sailing courses.
In addition I have had over 400 fun filled hours on the water having continued to sail with the ‘Improver Thursday Section’ associated with the INSC and have made many friends. All of the above was provided at a very modest cost and in a friendly atmosphere. I did not have to know an existing member or be proposed and seconded by a committee, I just 'showed up' like everyone else at the club.
I could not recommend the Irish National Sailing Club any higher for an easy friendly cost effective and safe method to learn to sail with competent friendly and enthusiastic instruction.

Hello Niall,
Apologies, I've been meaning to write to you sooner to say a big thank-you on behalf of my brother Brendan who was on your sports yacht beginners course recently.
(You very kindly managed to get him on at short notice).
To say he loved it is an understatement. He's even threatening to come back again from the UK
for a weekend soon to do the level two course!
Thanks again for all your help.
Much appreciated,
- Dee
Niall
Just a note to say thank you to you and all the crew especially John for his wonderful patience and instruction on the Sportsyacht beginner course of 4 & 5 April.
Looking forward to doing Level 2. Have to get my dates sorted to when I'll be next over in Dublin
.
Best wishes for the season. Many thanks
- Aileen
Powerboat Courses - What our Clients made of us...
“This is a highly practical course with most of the theory being taught on the water. Skills are clearly- and briefly- explained and demonstrated, leaving plenty of time for the learner to actually try out the maneouvres. The course leader invites many questions and manages to answer even the most idiotic ones without a trace of condescension. (Remarkable in the case of this novice!) The emphasis is on understanding how to best prepare for going safely out to sea, as well as beginning to grasp the basic skills of power boating. It was a fun two days and highly informative in the time allotted. The max is packed in and you feel you are really spending the time wisely and getting your money's worth. I shudder to think of power boaters going out on the water without having acquired the skills taught in those 2 days...”

"Needing a Powerboat Level Two certificate to qualify as a ISA sailing instructor I enrolled for one-to-one tuition with the Irish National Sailing School. The instruction and equipment were first class. My instructor explained the essential safety requirements of powerboat operation; outlined the key manoeuvres I would learn; and followed up with practical sessions and tuition on the water. Having operated outboard engines for many years I expected I would have little to learn. In the event I was surprised and pleased at how much I learned. The course significantly enhanced an essential aspect of my boating expertise and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to prospective trainees."
