Yacht Sailing Beginner Course – Level 1

 

9 hours tuition, leading to RYA/ISA Level 1 Keelboat certification.

The level 1 introduces you to the basics of sailing. We offer this course in Sports Yachts, which are stable, dry (relatively), comfortable and are sailed as part of a team. 

Cost: €189 per person

 

Syllabus
 

We follow the syllabus as laid down by The Irish Sailing Association and Royal Yachting Association – our validating bodies. The following are all integral parts to the course as we get your sailing career underway!

 

- Clothing – What to wear afloat and why.

- Ropework – We get you up and running with some basic knots.

- Rigging – How to put the boat together.

- Weather – What’s good to get out in and ultimately what to avoid!

- Setting the sails.

- Steering – getting to grips with the tiller!

- Wind Direction – how to determine where the wind is coming from.

- Upwind, downwind and sailing at 90° to the wind!

- Fine honing all of the above!

A 26 foot 1720 Sports Yacht. 

 

Gear
 

All wet gear and safety equipment is provided by us – we provide waterproof clothing and Lifejackets. It really is just a case of getting yourself here and letting us do the rest! For more information on gear to bring see our FAQ section.

- Saturday 18th (10.30am-5pm) & Sunday 19th (12-3pm)

- Saturday 25th (10.30am-5pm) & Sunday 26th (12-3pm)

 

March;

- Saturday 3rd (10.30am-5pm) and Sunday 4th (12-3pm)

- Saturday 10th (10.30-5pm) and Sunday 11th (12-3pm)

- Saturday 17th (10.30am-5pm) & Sunday 18th (12-3pm)
